Joseph Skoby is a Southern Californian whose work is inspired by the nature of his native State. His ceramics, created in his own lush garden, recall his intimate dance with the ocean as a lifelong surfer—a pure form of self-expression that disappears after each wave. Each vessel is textured and glazed with visions of the sun engulfed in saltwater; light dancing like gold on the ever-changing sea. Skoby’s works are simple yet profound, often paired in groups, forming a relationship mirroring that of his own with nature. Skoby resides in the coastal community of La Jolla, California.
