About The Artwork

This portrait sculpture was inspired by a story of a mysterious hooded man that entered the sculpture studio in the middle of the night. One of my collegeues was working deep in the night and he saw a man with a hood entering the studio and trying to cut him off. Power went off in the same minute and lucky, my colleague was able to find his way around and quickly got out. He ran as fast as he could to his place of residence within the university, Up to today, no one knows who this man was or why he entered the studio. This sculpture was also an attempt in modeling a clay piece that is hollow without the use of molds. It's terracotta finished with black and silver paint with a solid wooden base.

Tibz’s paintings are evocative reflections of Ugandan people, their culture, and their environments through his eyes. He employs brilliant colours and dark tones so that every piece he does delicately exudes both the vibrancy and gloom that characterize life around the Artist's immediate environment. His subjects tell poignant stories of Uganda’s beauty, sense of community, struggles, celebrations, triumphs and disappointments through their posture, movement and expressions. His primary medium is Acrylics on canvas. Ultimately, his works capture and preserve the feeling of being human in Uganda.
