Each ceramic work I make is unique unto itself and represents a moment that is now a past. As a young child in the 1970's I was obsessed with documenting the rooms in my parents home profoundly aware that I would grow, it would change and somehow I needed the proof that it all existed. As an adult I am in the same constant awareness of the passage of time. The rhythms in which I work in the studio are driven by the cycles of the moon often driving me into work frenzies. I am inspired by living on this planet, getting outside to hear, see, smell, taste, touch and feel it on my skin. The process of touching clay is profoundly ancient and an act of grounding for me. I am thankful each day that I get to touch Earth's oldest medium. I hope you are moved by the beauty of my work being formed in the Earth. Touching clay is truly touching Earth. Love, Stephanie
