VX–P4 – "Calliope" Sculpture

Kelly Drennan Walsh is the name and artistic force behind VANDAL X shoes and apparel. Starting out etching flat surfaces for personal meditation and relaxation, he soon discovered the joys of painting on 3D objects. Like a monkey finding a new toy, his love for shoes and art collided, and he started designing one-of-a-kind apparel for a discerning public. His main focus right now is footwear, with some exciting additions to the human exoskeleton taking place behind closed doors. Kinda like Willy Wonka. Kelly's main artistic inspiration is the ocean and all the creatures living below the waves. Much of his work evokes an abstract contemplation of these realms; leaving the viewer to imagine the unseen/unknown for themselves. The squiggles, shapes and lines flow organically to the surface he's painting, with very little predetermined or sketched out. Mood, weather, music, etc. all effect the output, as does the form and features of the canvas he's working with at any given time. For this reason, WYSIWYG. No commissions to do grand abstract family portraits or similar are accepted. You are getting a piece of his brain, as it escapes the confines of the physical form. Outside of his VANDAL X endeavors, Kelly is an art director, radio broadcast personality, world traveler, photographer/hobbyist, and nascent rally car driver. His love for the many species on this blue orb influences his work and his effort to help make this place just a little bit better for everyone. Be kind, help each other, stay positive!
