Hello, my name is Ramune. I am a professional artist. Clay is my whole life - and a hobby and pleasure, and livelihood. I was born in 1964 in the beautiful port town in Klaipeda, Lithuania. Since 1979, came to Kaunas, the second largest city in Lithuania. I studied technical school of fine arts of St. Zukas, which finished in 1986, I gained the fashion designer clothes specialty. I live and create in Kaunas until now, already for 30 years. Art surrounds me since childhood. My dad was a journalist-photographer, and mother was art critic and school teacher. She has worked in the educational school. She taught students to be art teachers when they complete studies. Writing and drawing accompanied me since childhood. My childhood toy was my dad's the old typewriter. And I grew up painting in mom’s work art school. I became interested in pottery 30 years ago, when I got married. My husband was ceramist. At the beginning when I started work with ceramics I just painted my husband’s works and later I began to model myself. Working with clay I saw that it has different color’s and since then I decided to refuse glazes and work only with colored clay. Working with colored clay, I do not hide the item after glaze. For this reason my works shine the natural colors of nature. This technology differentiates my work from other artists' works. These calm tones suited to various interior - metal, stone, wood, plaster and others. Although I am working with clay for 30 years, each time by taking the colored clay I make something new and unexpected even for myself. Since 2008 I also teach ceramic basics in children school. Showing them how to express them selves through clay. I can’t stop wondering how little children can make such beautiful art works and surprise their parents. Also I work in a Day Center with people hawing psychological problems. Molding the clay they forget their problems and it becomes like therapy and good form of relaxation to them. Since 1992 I am a member of Kaunas (Lithuania) Folk Artists' Association, I have a variety of souvenirs, sculptures, puppets, wall decorations, pano ... I also write and illustrate children books.
