Windsurfer Blue Base Sculpture

Windsurfer was inspired by many days watching wet suit wearing adventure seekers brave the ocean and wind to get their kicks at my local beach. It is meant to convey a sense of the perilous one man against the elements nature of Windsurfing and Kite surfing. I hope viewers can feel connected to this adventure and that it translates the metaphor of Artistic adventure with that of the Surfer and their adventure as well as the life adventure of the viewer. This method was chosen as a way of transferring sketchbook drawings made on site into my permanent images using a wood burning tool and a scroll saw . Because the Surfers are in such rapid motion it is all but impossible to freeze them without a camera although capturing a likeness from memory is possible so I opt for this instead.
