Memory and ancestry seemed like a natural path because with each piece, I found myself searching for the first information I had during my formative years in the countryside. The clothes washed by the riverside, where washerwomen colored white sheets with the blue of indigo to whiten them. The blue dye flowing through the water among the rocks captivated my gaze in pure enchantment, as did the distribution of various patterns of sheets and clothes exposed to the sun among the riverbed stones. In my works I try to look the contemporary world, where belonging has been fragmented. Isolated groups, dissociated from their origin and senses of affection. A migratory world. Through the use of broken elements, or hard materials, like stones and jewels, I try to expose this fragmentation and isolation. The repurposed textiles, like old clothes and tablecloths, indicate the possibility of this new existance, where color works as a tie between the then and now.
