About The Artwork

frammento numero 14. polistirolo acrilico pergamena. cm 42x42x36. 2017. Work is part of the "Babelico" cycle, consisting of 20 works. Signs from the time that have come to us stratified over the centuries to testify to the essential need in man to communicate with other men, not only verbally but through more sophisticated and lasting forms, in order for thought to be expressed in writing when expressed forms to perpetuate themselves. Letters of alphabets mostly belonging to disappeared civilizations whose traces, still alive and present, mingle with each other, chase the utopia of an unlikely universal language. Calligraphic signs painted on parchment tablets, placing the brush in acrylic paint containers, and what precious gems, "embedded" in polystyrene structures whose material candor is here called to exalt and contaminate the formal grace of the ancient graphs.

She has worked as a translator from french for a while, collaborating with some national publishing company. And this is how, possibly, arises in her the interest towards the word, extract from its usual contest, on a game of exchange between the word and the image, where "the sign" overwhelmes "the sense". She becomes part of the Visual Poetry group, art style came out of the 20th century avant-garde movements; she gets the chance to meet prominent figures in the movement such as Ugo Carrega, Emilio Isgrò, Mirella Bentivoglio.
