Sculpture: Wood, Metal, Paint on Wood, Steel, Other.
Beside my paintings I do sculptures as well. Usually I use as main-material something old from my surrounding. In this case it was an old throne-chair from historism. It belonged to my family, it belonged to me.
This year I cut the throne into pieces. With a handsaw. And each of those pieces I gave a second life as a sculpture.
In the case of "golden ass licker" it was one of the armrests of the throne. So the wood and the carving are about 120 years old. The funny detail, that the face pokes out its tongue, you didn't saw as an adult person, as it was out of the angle of sight.
In cutting the throne - and create a stool, of of the other pieces - such details suddenly get attention.
