“um passarinho me contou…" Sculpture

(In English and Portuguese) A multimedia contemporary artist, Ana Cockerill was born in Brazil and has lived and worked in London since 1987. She started her studies in arts during the late seventies and obtained a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from the 'Escola de Belas Artes' of the Federal University of Bahia. Posteriorly, she accomplished master courses in the conservation and restoration of paintings and baroque sculptures (Brazil), and in textiles conservation (Portugal), and later on (2000 - 2003) she accomplished an MA in Art Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths University of London. Her art includes works in painting, sculpture, digital design, mixed media and installations. Ana Cockerill has exhibited in the UK and abroad, and at present she works as an artist and curator, as well as an Art Psychotherapist conducting private Art Therapy/Psychotherapy sessions in her studio, in West London. She is registered at the HPC-UK. .................................................................................................................. Ana Maria Fernandes Cardoso Cockerill e' Brasileira e vive em Londres desde 1987. Usando tecnicas e materiais diversos, um dos seus interesses especiais e' misturar cor, textura e forma, para observar o resultado final da mesclagem destes tres elementos em relacao as imagens formadas durante o processo creativo. Sua arte inclui trabalhos em pintura, escultura, desenho digital e varias tecnicas mistas, e pode muitas vezes sugerir uma narrativa abstrata de carater estritamente subjetivo que reflete uma observacao pessoal de algum aspecto da realidade vigente, ou ser inspirada por situacoes guardadas na memoria. (Alguns dos artistas e movimentos que mais aprecia, e com cuja linha de trabalho se identifica, sao: Louise Bourgeois, Cy Twombly, Tapie' e o Art Povera, Ligia Clark e o Modernismo...) Cockerill nasceu em Teofilo Otoni - MG, e mudou-se para Salvador- Ba ainda no inicio da sua infancia. No final da decada de 1970 conclui bacharelado em Belas Artes, na UFBA, e logo a seguir se especializa em Conservacao e Restauracao de Obras de Arte (com enfoque em pintura e escultura barroca) em curso de pos-graduacao implementado pela UFBA,Unesco e OEA. Dando continuidade neste campo de estudos, mora em Lisboa de 1985 a 1987 para completar um mestrado em Conservacao e Restauracao de Texteis.
