Atoosa Maleki

I like to explore; harmony in chaos, calmness in confusion, peace in violence, order in disorder! I’m drawn to color and shape, and nature is the main source of my inspiration.

There is always pattern and harmony in any chaotic system, and I admire pattern-forming of physical/mental bodies in my everyday life and its relation to the time. Translucent quality of aqueous paint captures a sense of timelessness, and I like to create imaginary and otherworldly atmosphere by overlapping layers.

There are both Farsi and Pahlavi alphabets in my abstract art-works. I was born in Tehran/Iran and got my Bachelor degree in Polymer Engineering at Amir Kabir University of Technology in Tehran. I went to Norway to continue my study at University of Oslo. After getting my PhD in Polymer-Chemistry and working as a researcher for 4 years, I decided to peruse my childhood dream. I came to California to study art at California College of the Arts.
