Ana Vizcarra Rankin

Ana Vizcarra Rankin makes drawings, paintings and sculptures about travel and cartography. Recently she has been studying star maps and images captured using powerful telescopes or other mediating technologies such as global positioning systems. These images are transmuted into art that explores the phenomenological sense of being in and of the universe.

An Uruguayan American artist based in Philadelphia, and a graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and Temple University, Vizcarra Rankin has exhibited extensively and received numerous awards. Her work resides in international, public, corporate and private collections.

Ana Vizcarra Rankin hace dibujos, pinturas y esculturas sobre los viajes y la cartografía. Recientemente ha estado estudiando mapas astronómicos y las imágenes capturadas utilizando gran telescopios y otras tecnologías de mediación gráfica, como los sistemas de posicionamiento global.
