My latest paintings, entitled “Profiles in Ice” are expressions of appreciation and hope as we face climate change and the vanishing cryosphere.
Celebrating the beauty and transience of the frozen landscape; the massive glaciers and monumental icebergs.

These paintings consist of three features:

1. A background depicting a map of a frozen landscape.
2. An overlay of a celestial constellation map, which provides a reminder of the global, planetary effect of this crisis, as well as a time stamp superimposed on the threatened landscape.
3. And lastly, an iconic figure of a fading iceberg.

I use multiple layers of thin paint to build up the paintings.
I remember how impressed I was when I first heard how some painters used layers and layers of translucent paint so the light would pass through the colors and bounce back to the viewer.

The paintings are acrylic on wood panels.
They come complete with hanging wire and are ready to hang.
