Carlos Rios

Colombian sculptor and painter.
Currently lives and works in Bogotá.

In 1983 Carlos enrolled as a fine art student at the University of Antioquia, and then the paths of live took him to Mexico, to the UNAM Academy of San Carlos, where he started his career as an artist.

Carlos has always been fascinated about working with industrial and common use materials. He sees in scrap metal and other objects that people discard, a source of inspiration, that mixed with wood, stone, metals, oil colors and acrylic paint, become his particular artistic creations.

His interest in exploring the human being and its reality, is the engine of his work.

In Mexico he exhibit in the San Carlos Academy. In Berlin, in addition to working with the renowned theater director Johann Kresnik at the Volksbühne Theater, he had a work space and permanent exhibition in the emblematic Kunsthaus Tacheles. In Bogotá he had several collective and individual exhibitions. His work can be found in private collections in France, Germany, Mexico, Argentina, Japan and Colombia.
