Clovis Cunha

Self-unveiling procedures and issues of identity are strongly appealing to me. Recently, I have been working with actions that explore different ways of confession. Occasionally, they coincide with the disclosure of my sexuality. In addition, my interest in confession goes along with participatory actions. Lately, I have been developing projects that connect actions of intimacy with artistic exposure, experimenting with the conflict between self-awareness and and self-fiction. A series of relevant photographs have attracted my interest. I have been working on some portraits and self portraits which I produce after interaction with the posers or moments of self-scrutiny. These photographs intent to compose the human figure into geometrical patterns, exploring aspects of the poser’s identity.

Clovis Marcio Cunha is a Brazilian artist. During his Master's Degree in Theatre Studies (UDESC-Universidade Estadual de Santa Catarina), he became interested in the aesthetics and procedures of performance art.This interest was previously explored in his postgraduate studies FAP-Faculdade de Artes do Paraná. His artworks usually relate the visual art field with theatre theories. The interest in the integration of arts started when he was studying visual arts at UFPR - Universidade Federal do Paraná
