Coila Evans

Artist Statement:

My goal as an oil painter is to transcend region, geography, and culture.

When you view my work I want you to see the humanistic spirit, and read the untold story of my subject through the muted tones, pops of colour, expressive texture and composition.

I study the human form I see within trees, the light I see dancing on a landscape, and the soul found through the eye of a horse. I delight in the pet portraits for my patrons, love the depth found in people's personas; and the way the season brings, to my table, fruits and flowers for my pleasure.

Bio:

Coila Evans is an oil painter living in Roundup, Montana.
She often works from life, and references the many photographs she snaps as she makes her way through the day.
Incorporating the influences from the places she has lived has been a promising evolution, as she loves to paint equine, still life, landscape and figurative.
Her color palette is made up of muted, warm tones, with an occasional flash of brightness.
She paints with texture and leaves the impression of spontaneity on her canvas.
