Daniel Pizani

My name is Daniel Pizani Marçal, I’m a 25 years old artist currently living and working in the capital city of Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

I see drawing as a constant way to observe, attend to and connect both the world surrounding me and the world I imagine or perceive: drawing as a way, so to speak, to make possible an ‘emblematical vision’ towards the environment I’m in. To do so, sketchbooks follow me on a daily basis so I can make possible this kind of narrative intimacy to what surrounds me: there's always a possibility, through drawing, to rediscover the ‘original myth’ of objects, places and people, which are then forms I collect and gather for a laboratory or reinvent situation on printmaking, painting, etc. Concerning drawing, I also tend to craft my own graphic resources, like inks and twig pens.

- Higher education – bachelor degree on Visual Arts with aptitude on printmaking by the School of Fine Arts of Federal University of Minas Gerais (EBA-UFMG) – concluded in 2019.

- Applied to the study, practice and appreciation of drawing, painting, printmaking and writing, researching the many technical, material and meaningful ways to elaborate a visual and poetic project for which are important the following categories of study and experimentation: imagination as cognition; memory; mythology; scenography and formal composition; dreamlike and nightmarish figuration; images of the grotesque and the sublime; emblems and allegories; images as narrative, mnemonic or rhetorical puzzles.
