Through sculpture, photography and drawings, the work of Deborah Brown continues to explore the ego, materialism, sexuality and desire. Underpinning this exploration of desire is an ongoing investigation into the objectification of the body and its functions in reflecting emotional and psychological fragmentation.

Brown is a Southern California artist who has been living in the UK for the past 17 years. She showed extensively in the 90’s and was collected largely by Eileen & Peter Norton amongst many others. Her work generates great interest and has received broad critical acclaim and is currently in 6 museum permanent collections. Brown was also the featured artist for the Barney’s New York Christmas windows. After a break in exhibiting, in 2016 she had a solo show at Jason Vass Gallery, Los Angeles and reemerged with a powerful new body of work, developed over the previous decade. Since then, she continues to create in her Wilshire countryside studio.
