Artist Statement
Hello, I’m Diane. I am an abstract impressionist, with a 40 year background in the film industry. I grew up on the beach of Santa Monica, California, where my creative path was significantly influenced by my family. I often jokingly describe us as a quirky bunch of Carnies: my father a film editor, my mother an actress, one brother a photographer, the other a site rep for locations. During the filming of a small indie film, The Face of Love, Annette Benning portrayed an artist, and the artwork on set was stunning. Compelled, I had the Art Director introduce me to the artist and I purchased two of the paintings off the set. That prompted me to purchase brushes, paint, canvas, and to seek out classes in every town I filmed in. I am excited about the art I create for you! It lights me up to see one of my paintings on the wall and think, “Damn, I love that!”, and I totally want to share that feeling with you! So, please take a moment to look around and enjoy my work.
