Domenick Maldari was born in Giovinazzo Province of Bari, Italy in 1948, emigrated to Buenos Aires, Argentina, and has lived in United States since 1961.
Maldari works predominantly in the medium of painting, however, he has also created works in ceramics, enjoys carving bone, wood and low relief on slate. While he focuses principally on watercolor, he also enjoys painting in oil, as well as drawing in pencil and pen/ink.
Maldari is foremost a craftsman interested in the uniquely human ability to use one's physical and intellectual capacity for artistic expression using inspiration from nature and our surroundings. He learned how to draw and paint at an early age under the direction and guidance of his father, he graduated from the High School of Art and Design in New York City, and later matriculated to Bronx Community College.
Maldari retired from a lifelong career as a plumbing and fire protection senior designer for a leading mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering consulting firms in New York City, his most recent projects where the UN General Assembly Renovation, NY Presbyterian Hospital Transplant Unit, Lankenau Hospital New Patient Building and in 1985 the Statue of Liberty Museum Renovation. Maldari is self taught in painting and other fine art crafts, however, he studied with Frank Eliscu (past president of National Sculpture Society) and taken workshop with Jerry Weiss (present teacher at the Student League in NYC.
Maldari has been exhibiting since 1985 principally and most recently in group shows in and around New York City, Hollywood and Delray Beach in Florida.
Most notably: Federal Plaza, Lever House, Ward-Nasse Gallery, Nassau Museum, and numerous events sponsored by All Communities Arts Inc.
As a member of Brooklyn Waterfront Artist Coalition (BWAC) he regularly exhibited his work at a waterfront gallery in Red Hook Brooklyn.
In Hollywood Florida he was a member artist at G&S Alternative Space.
In Connecticut he exhibited at Rene Soto Gallery.
His fine art works are mainly in private collections.
