Manson attended Glasgow School of Art from 1966 to 1971. A notable pupil of David Donaldson, James D Robertson, Duncan Shanks and Alexander Goudie. Also attended Hospitalfield in 1969 under Jack Knox. Awarded GSA DA 1970 and GSA PGDip 1971.
