Stephen Webster

My work is in the modernist tradition - I believe that there are rich avenues
still to be explored. I value the freedom to experiment within self-imposed limits. I like to surprise myself with each painting and to arrive at an unexpected ending. Colour is one obsession;music is another.

A painting is finished when it hangs on the wall with its own presence.

It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that 'zing'.

I studied at Bath Academy of Art, Leeds University and Chelsea School of Art.
