Eakalak is a self-taught artist who began his drawing journey on his own. After experimenting with various techniques, he found himself returning to childhood memories of using charcoal from the kitchen to scribble on walls. His experience in creating film storyboards deepened his fascination with the expressive power of charcoal.
“It’s such a simple medium — all you need is a surface to scratch on. From those scratch marks, an image starts to appear. And when you feel that it’s beautiful, it’s like you’ve encountered something truly moving before your eyes. You even forget that you were the one who made it. You just want to invite everyone to come and see it with you and say, ‘Hey, look, isn’t it beautiful?’ I think that feeling — that sense of wonder — is what’s kept me drawing all this time,” he said.
