EDUARDO GIL was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1948.
In 2019 he received the Artistic Career Award, the highest distinction that the Argentine State grants to an artist.
Gil has exhibited his work in Argentina, Alemania, Australia, Austria, Bélgica, Brasil, Canadá, Chile, Cuba, Eslovaquia, España, Estados Unidos, Francia, Guatemala, Gran Bretaña, Holanda, Italia, México, Puerto Rico, Suecia, Tailandia, Uruguay y Venezuela.

After graduating as a Commercial Airline Pilot, completing his studies in Meteorology, studying Sociology at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and passing through diverse work experiences, at the beginning of the 1980s, he began a multifaceted photographic experience.
His first documentary essay was on the subject of Cemeteries in Latin America.
Between 1982 and 1985 he coordinated a photography workshop with the inmates of the Hospital Borda, which ended with a lucid photographic essay on mental health. The series Latinoamérica and Retratos Latinos are also from that time.
In 1983, he photographed one of the most significant artistic-political practices of the period, El Siluetazo, currently an invaluable artistic document.
All these works were done in black and white and were obsessively developed by Gil himself.
In 1983, he created the Workshops on Photographic Aesthetics (Talleres de Estética Fotográfica, TEF), the first of their kind in the country, in which he applied non-conventional techniques in his aesthetic search and group work.
