Emilie is a full time artist. She creates her work out of her studio in Wellington New Zealand where she constructs surreal collages based on the principles of beauty, truth, and freedom.
Emilie draws inspiration from society, culture and human relationships; her work is rooted in counselling theory; social construction, positioning theory, and empowerment theory. Through her work Emilie aims to highlight and challenge societal norms and discourse that may otherwise be invisible to us; questioning our perceived realities and inviting us to see new possibilities.
Emilie's collage work is vibrant and full of life and colour. Surreal scenes grow out of everyday familiar objects and figures that have been reorganised to create something new.
