On an expedition cruise to Antarctic traveling south of the Antarctic Circle, I saw the most amazing icebergs with intense cobalt blue and aqua stripes. Fascinated with the calligraphic qualities of the lines defining the shape of these huge structures, I made photographs from different angles and from different distances to form abstract patterns. Antarctica is the "sculpture garden of the Gods" displaying an awesome variety and highly imaginative shapes. But all of the icebergs are huge, so the scale also contributes the their profoundly overwhelming beauty. I am working on a series of paintings based on this vision, but I present a sampling of my photographs in this collection.
