Amaya F. Fariza (Bilbao) holds a degree in Fine Arts. Her work belongs to the realm of contemporary realism, where thoughts, emotions, and everyday scenes converge. Through painting, she channels her ideas, drawing inspiration from nature, the human figure, and atmospheres filled with mystery and romanticism. Her creative process begins with a photographic search that nourishes her compositions. She combines elements taken from reality —objects, figures, environments— with a strong presence of color as the main protagonist. Form and background merge in her personal pictorial language, which at times departs from pure realism to explore more evocative dimensions. She has experimented with various techniques such as watercolor, tempera, pastel, and charcoal. Although she has witnessed the rise of expressionism up close, she remains faithful to her own style and method of work: a constant technical and conceptual exploration that leads her to create unique visual universes. Among her most notable series are “Soledades”, dreamlike, invented worlds where vegetation takes center stage even in interiors, and “Paraísos”, tropical compositions where mystery and dreams unfold through color. In “Summers”, she portrays everyday beach scenes featuring young women that evoke the freshness and nostalgia of summers that will not return. She is currently exploring new floral compositions and themes related to the animal world. Her work is part of private collections in several countries and has been both a finalist and award-winner in various painting competitions. She has also developed an extensive career as an art educator and artistic director. She is an heir to the legacy of the great Impressionist masters, and her work authentically reflects the essential traits of realism.
