David Appleby is a visual Artist and oil painter who lives and works in Nottingham, England.
Working from his studio in a converted Chapel on the outskirts of the city and utilising themes including traditional gender role reversal, sex and wilful power exchange, he explores the deep connections that form within such intense, passionate and interactive relationships.
Each piece becomes a part of the human emotional experience, and when viewed as a series they convey the whole sum of those experiences, from deep lost euphoria to intense strength and pride.
David has always had a passion for classical artwork and using those ideas in more modern ways, combining the best of what has past with the best of what is new in order to create contemporary paintings with meaning, flow and beauty. Strong underlying abstraction, playful serendipity and bold, purposeful mark making are key ideas employed in the Artists work.
