Liane Kusters

My work evolves from a continuous dialogue between material, memory, and atmosphere.

Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, I build layered surfaces in which texture, color, and spatial depth become carriers of emotion. Some works lean toward abstraction, others retain echoes of landscape — yet all are grounded in a tactile exploration of surface and presence.

Rather than illustrating a scene, I construct it through material: layering, adjusting, sometimes revealing what lies beneath. Each painting becomes a negotiation between control and intuition.

Independent artist based in the Netherlands, developing a self-directed studio practice focused on material exploration and series-based work.
