Martin’s artistic journey began in early 1990s London, where he created meticulous watercolour illustrations of interiors for designers. Even then, his renderings carried a subtle twist - figures appearing in shadows, objects slightly out of place - hints of unease that transformed straightforward visuals into images charged with narrative tension. Over the years, this instinct for disruption has evolved into a distinctive artistic voice. Today, Martin’s paintings hover between reality and imagination, fusing Realism, Surrealism, Magical Realism, and Pop Art into a language uniquely his own. His works often feel both familiar and uncanny: urban scenes unsettled by strange intrusions, domestic spaces haunted by symbolic presences, or playful juxtapositions that reveal deeper truths about the human condition. Each composition is layered with symbols, colour, and narrative fragments drawn from lived experience, myths, and cultural memory. The result is art that invites reflection and sparks curiosity, asking viewers to consider what is hidden in plain sight, and what lies beneath appearances. Extensive travel continues to fuel Martin’s practice, exposing him to diverse cultures and perspectives that enrich his imagery and sharpen his global outlook. Despite his British roots, he identifies as a citizen of the world, committed to diversity, free thought, and the interplay of irony and curiosity in art. Producing around twenty works annually, Martin has cultivated a dedicated following among collectors in Europe and the U.S.A. His art has become known for its ability to merge storytelling, symbolism, and aesthetic beauty -pieces that do more than decorate walls; they challenge perception and linger in the imagination.
