Karin Reiter

Karin Reiter is an Austrian contemporary abstract painter working primarily in layered acrylic and mixed media on canvas. Her large-scale abstract paintings explore transitional states — moments between dissolution and emergence — through textured surfaces, nuanced earth tones, and architectural compositions.

Her process combines intuitive gesture with deliberate structural decisions. Working in layers, she builds density and negative space using additive and subtractive techniques, creating depth, tension, and resonance within the pictorial field. The result is contemporary abstract art that balances control and spontaneity.

Reiter’s paintings function as spatial anchors within modern interiors. Rather than decorative surfaces, they operate as atmospheric focal points — shifting the emotional quality of a room through color, texture, and scale. Karin Reiter grew up as the oldest child of a portraitist and engraver for the Austrian Mint, developing an early sensitivity for precision, structure, and visual composition.

As a painter, she is primarily self-taught and has refined her practice through various in-person workshops with Austrian and German abstract artists over the past 15 years.

In 2022, she completed the Creative Visionary Program (CVP), the internationally recognized online intensive course founded by Nicholas Wilton under the platform Art2Life, with an advanced refresher in 2024.

In 2026, she participated in the Mixed Media Festival led by Lydia Rink.

Reiter has maintained an independent studio practice since 2020.
