Michel De Bono was born in 1947 and moved from London with his wife and children to Essex 22 years ago. After leaving school he worked as a motor mechanic and bought his own garage in 1973 where he has worked ever since.
He is completely self taught in pottery, drawing and sculpture and apart from attending The Colvestone Open Studio for a few years in Dalston, London has had no formal training. The workshop was run by the artist/sculptor Alan Clayden.
Due to work and bringing up a family, sculpture was put on the back-boiler for 35 years. The inspiration for his first exhibition was drawn from the survival of the human/animal race and he has produced several semi abstract studies of the female and horse form including life size bronze pieces during 2009.
