José Van Diek

The seed of my art was planted by my mother, a painter herself. Watered by my compulsion to do things differently, a new style of painting grew on me, rooted in magic realism.
I call it multidimensional realism.

I depict realistic scenes on unique glass fibre panels. They allow you to discover new worlds, in multiple dimensions. Love, human being, consciousness; all descendants of a single source, are central themes in my paintings.
The 31st of August 1954 I was born in Arnhem, the Netherlands.

Academically trained, Johan Paulus Pieters was a true mentor for me in my early years. Later, I drew inspiration from theosophy, classical art, cosmology, quantum-physics, history, medicine and spiritual sciences.
Artists that inspire me are Daphné du Barry (sculpture), Rembrandt van Rijn and Salvador Dalí.

Later, I became a teacher of art myself, and helped dozens of students take the next step in their artistic development.

My first exhibition (1989, Zevenaar) was a provocative exploration of the contradictions between love and hate in this world. After that, I chose to focus on creating novel glass fibre paintings, pastels, watercolours and acrylic rather than exhibiting it. I worked on commission, portraits, nudes, landscapes and billboards. Therefore, my complete artwork (~100 paintings) is still in my possession, with minor exceptions only.
