Artist Statement

As a fine artist I am interested in the structure of the modern family and identity. From the role of women within the household to the façade that families portray. My work has always focused on the role of women within the home and the personalities they adopt when dealing with different people. These range from mother to business woman.
I have also recently been exploring the façade that our families adopt to show the outside world. Families have their problems but many of us outside of this family are not privvy to the secrets that our families have. It could be a mother that drinks too much or a father that is having an affair.
Family and identity are important themes throughout my work and I explore these through using the medium of digital photography and creating large scale colour photographs.
