Tony Meyer

I often find inspiration in the outdoors, painting and drawing en plain air.
Before I settle on a place and subject, I always have to roam about for some time, "shopping" for a scene that I find particularly compelling. A major component of my process is physicality, which includes experiencing a place through multiple senses. The smell of freshly cut grass and the feel of the sun's warmth on my skin, for example, can affect me powerfully. I try to paint my experience, including my emotions and non-visual sensations.
