Rok Slana was born on April 1st 1983 in Kranj, Slovenia, to mother Alenka Žagar Slana and father France Slana, BFA, a famous slovenian painter. After finishing elemtary school in Ljubljana in 1998 he was accepted to Likovna gimnazija (High School of Fine Arts) into a newly formed program of High School for Design and Photography where he soon realized his strong passion for painting and started actively painting in 1999. He made his first public apperarance in a group exhibition with other puppils of HSDP in 2002 at a public introduction of schools in CD Information Centre in Ljubljana. He graduated from high schol in the same year. In 2003 he passed the exames and enrolled in the Accademy of Fine Arts in Venice, Italy. Under the mentorship of prof. Carlo Di Raco he concluded his studies after five years with a successful preparation and defence of a graduate thesis in 2008. He considers his father, France Slana, BFA, prof. Carlo Di Raco, Rudolf Španzel, BFA, and prof. Igor Kregar his most important mentors. He is now married to Špela Slana,dr.med.spec., and since mid 2011 also a father to a beautifull little girl, Julija. He is situated and working in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
