Originally trained as an architect at the Glasgow School of Art and the University of Edinburgh, I worked in a number of design practices throughout the UK and the USA, before deciding to embark on the exhilarating journey as an art director and production designer in the film and television industry. This role allows me to channel my creative vision and artistic sensibilities into the realm of storytelling through moving images. As an art director, I collaborate with filmmakers, producers, and fellow artists to craft immersive visual experiences that enrich the narratives and transport audiences to new worlds. I find film an exciting canvas to explore diverse genres, historical periods, and futuristic settings. Through meticulous research and attention to detail, I breathe life into each scene, curating the visual elements that convey the intended mood, tone, and emotions. Whether it's designing captivating sets for period dramas, envisioning futuristic landscapes for science fiction epics, or crafting intricate props to enhance character development, my role as an art director allows me to weave art seamlessly into the fabric of storytelling. In this collaborative and dynamic environment, I thrive on working with talented professionals from various disciplines, such as production designers, costume designers, and visual effects artists. Together, we harmonize our creative energies, transforming the director's vision into tangible and awe-inspiring visuals that captivate audiences worldwide. However, my own fine art practice allows me to step back and continue to indulge in my own individual and uncompromised artistic explorations.
