Carlo Mari, born in Milan in 1959, eclectic photographer of reportage, fashion and advertising, with indiscutibile professional origins related to travel and nature. He has known the world over and under the sea, but Africa has bewitched him ever since he was a child.
In the fascinating paradise of East Africa he lives for several months a year in close contact with nature and tribal peoples.
Carlo Mari has to his credit many photographic books published throughout the world of which 6 concern East Africa, including Kenya and Tanzania.
He was born photographer.
For years he was sent by "The Harvill Press" of London in East Africa to document the wildlife of this fascinating land. Two important books are the result of this long cooperation: "The Great Migration", described by the authoritative BBC Wildlife Magazine as "…nothing less than a work of art" and "Pink Africa", an extraordinary photo story of the African pink flamingo.
He has always cooperated with famous writers among whom  Kuki Gallmann for the book "SAFARI" (F & T, 2002).
In Paris he published  the book "Animal Man", a research about seduction (2003).

Carlo Mari is a visionary artist.
My esteem for him has ancient origins. When he arrived (a few years ago, truly) in my studio, struck me his brilliant intelligence enclosed in an introverted and silent character.
By becoming friends, it was clear to me that under an austere case
vibrated a remarkable fantasy and the rare ability to see the world with
"new" eyes.
His career then showed that creativity was just one
extraordinary stage to enter "on stage".
This unique world has been and is still a reinvented Africa read by
his indisputable poetic talent.
A series of extraordinary books and exhibitions testify of an Africa felt with
the soul, more than documented; photographs that deeply investigate this
"Great Mother" of the world through portraits, landscapes, images of
animals, plants etc. in an African vocabulary that unveils to all of us
depth, even symbolic, of the continent.
In this sophisticated and cultured book, Carlo skillfully uses contamination
of languages ​​to reach even more deeply the "story" of his
life of artist who uses photography.
