Christian Mai

Born in Hamburg in 1967, I grew up immersed in creativity, exploring painting and sculpture before discovering photography as my main form of expression. My career has taken me from Paris to Milan, working with international fashion magazines and brands, and photographing prominent figures across art, music, and sports.
Alongside commercial work, I pursue personal artistic projects, blending photography and painting to explore the tension between staging and authenticity, emotion and form. Exhibitions, publications, and collaborations with fellow artists continue to shape my evolving practice.

I trained as a professional photographer while studying painting, graphics, and fine arts at the HFBK Hamburg.
