David Izatt is a filmmaker and photographer based in the Kingdom of Fife in Scotland. He has travelled the globe working on both film and photography projects, having lived in London, Melbourne and Auckland before returning to his home town of Dunfermline in 2018. David is trained in Art and Design and also spent several years in Australia training as an actor just so he could see how it worked from the other side of the camera (and it’s no secret that he enjoys both). Even when he’s directing films, he will almost always have a stills camera in hand. In 2018 his debut feature film (as director) ‘A Christmas Carol’ was released on Amazon Prime TV. Before that he worked as a cinematographer on the horror film ‘Plan Z’ which was released on Netflix and the Martin Scorsese produced film ‘Tomorrow’ as the official stills photographer, working with Stephen Fry, James Cosmo and musician Joss Stone amongst others.
His photography work features epic landscapes from New Zealand and Scotland for the most part, but his current work ‘Solas Agus Dorchadas’ (Scots Gaelic for Light and Darkness) focuses on an ethereal, almost melancholic look at the world through his eyes as he skirts around the edges of his home town and beyond.
