Ingrid Hyde

"I believe art should be a journey into the mind and soul of the artist. It should entice the viewer with images and ideas that are imaginative and genuine; ensnaring the heart with beautiful colors, then capturing the mind with the content of the composition. I affectionately define my style as pop-fusion and can be described as a blend of abstract expressionism, pop, surrealism, and street art. I include subtle environmental undertones that speaks to the subconscious, submerged and hidden by the whimsical demeanor of my work. I am concerned with the struggles of balancing our natural world with our constructed environments and to live harmoniously within a symbiotic relationship. I find great challenge in working with bright, bold, colors and orchestrating them to work together; I compare painting to music, I start from color chords of chaos and dissonance and work to find harmonious relationships using their visual vibrations.

Ingrid Hyde attended the elite School of the Art Institute of Chicago, earned a B.S. in Art Education from Northern Illinois University, and a M.A. in School Administration and Leadership from St. Xavier University.


Ingrid's work has been displayed and sold in over 70 juried shows, galleries, and boutiques around the United States. She is currently an Art Director and educator in the public schools, and has developed a Success Based Art Curriculum for all ages and abilities.
