“Jeff Chies builds unfathomable canvas. At the same time and in a single painting, his work creates different typologies from the abstract art, updating them through unprecedented context and contamination.It is able to see in Jeff’s woofs and deepness that the lexicon was initiated by abstract expressionism, created by so distinct references, like Jorge Guinle, Per Kirkebi, Iberê Camargo, Franz Kline, Gerhard Richter, Jacqueline Humphries, or Cy Twombly. Embodied by investigation of the pictorial structure, where processes departing from spontaneous gestures evolve into elaborate and complex systems where improvisation, organization of form and space are at its core.In his work, tachisme with expressionism; metaphysic with materialism, are somehow together.”

Graduated by PUC in Porto Alegre in Social Communication.
Jeff has all his trajectory developed in the field of languages.
Was a photographer in the beginning of his career, is a film director, has made documentaries, movies and publicity.
His studies in plastic arts were developed with the critic and historian Rodrigo Naves. In the critical accompaniment of the painter and curator Paulo Pasta.
