John Gerrard Fowler

Studied painting at Canterbury - BA (Hons) Fine Art

I’m a Fine Art painter working in oil on canvas. I’m very influenced by Post-impressionism, Fauvism and Expressionism but also have a wide range of interests in the worlds of art, literature and music.

I worked for 15 years as an artworker and an illustrator for printers and publishers such as The Ivy Press, Pearson Education, Macmillan Education.

October 2020: Selected by Amateur Photographer Magazine as a ‘highlight’ of the Brighton Photo Fringe 2020.

October 2020: Virtual exhibition as part of the Brighton Photo Fringe 2020.

2019: Selected by The British Journal of Photography to appear in their book ‘Portrait of Britain Volume 2’.

October 1-30th 2018: Solo exhibition as part of the Brighton Photo Fringe and Brighton Photo Biennial 2018. This was a physical as well an online virtual exhibition.

2016: Longlisted for the BPF16 Solo Exhibition Award.
