Kim Kivits

The passion for drawing has been with me all my life. As a child, I spent hours drawing and making portraits. In the past decades, I have developed in the artistic field and started studying painting.

My paintings, mostly in oil paint, are distinguished by a mix of figurative forms with abstraction. I get my inspiration from nature, trees, flowers, plants, people.

Characteristic is my investigative working method. I look for the combination and contrast between the organic lines and surfaces and use this as a starting point for new forms. With this I create images in which color, surface, line and intermediate form are decisive. The foregrounds and backgrounds merge, so to speak.

Remarkeble are my mixed media paintings that are built up on transparent carriers. I work with a layering and transparency that gives me the opportunity to create depth and mysterious images.

My (pencil) drawings are with precision and finesse and often show fragility. I use these as preparation for my paintings to ‘feel’ the shape and texture of the subject.
