Michael Rudman

Born and raised in London, Michael completed a history degree before taking to the road for 18 months in his early 20’s with a backpack and camera. On his return he worked as a director in advertising, where he won some of the industry’s most prestigious awards.

During a year’s sabbatical from the commercial world Michael honed his photography skills on a post graduate photography course at UAL, which he passed with distinction.

The course allowed him the freedom to feed his creativity and bring a more personal approach to his work. He deliberately avoids strict categorisation believing nothing should be beyond the realms of his practice. Michael has a profound interest in observing how the natural world and people coexist in both rural and urban settings. Time, both historical and contemporary, is a key feature in all his work, providing discernment and understanding to each image.
