Hello dear artlover, welcome to my world.

I feel a great love for nature. The pure beauty of plants and flowers, especially in a certain light on a certain moment of the day which I first like to capture with a photo that inspires me to use details to create a (light)atmosphere within the oil painting.
Most flowers in the paintings are self-grown from my garden.
I use the Rembrandt technique for my paintings. This technique is made up of layers, a sketch layer, imprimatura, grisailles and the final layer in oil paint. My paintings take time and patience.
Besides this I have a fascination for painting magical realism. My imagination and fantasy focuses mainly on possible future worlds, expressed in plants, creatures and biotopes.
My paintings are signed on the frontside with mir and the year.
On the backside I wrote my whole name mirjam van overbeek
And the title and year of the painting.

In 1982 I graduated cum laude from the Royal Academy of Art and Design in 's Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. ( the name is changed now)
From 1984 I designed fashion collections for a company in Italy.
Back in the Netherlands 1986 I started expressing in many disciplines and I mastered several techniques.
Photography, woodworking, metal welding, glass, glassfibers, all kinds of techniques for large murals inside and outside.
In addition to commissions, I also regularly exhibited applied art in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium.
From 1996 a period started of interior design assignments for universities, hospitals, government buildings, companies and private individuals. Wall paintings were also included.
In between I built (interactive) art installations and environments with which I exhibited mainly at light and/or art&technology festivals.
In 2015 I got a burnout and a little later I continued only with painting, which became my main creative endeavour.
