As a fashion and commercial photographer, I am known for my graphic style and for my use of a large format 8x10 camera. I developed my visual voice during a 15 year stint working and living in United States and Europe. But to be honest, even though itʼs what Iʼm most known for, Iʼm shit bored of looking at photographs. The transition to paint and mixed media has allowed me to continue my emphasis on elaborated, well-thought out composition. Iʼm realizing it is all about the aesthetics of composition; thatʼs what itʼs always been about to me, and itʼs the theme that carries through all my work.
My art and my work are my freedom. Every painting starts with an itching I feel to create. The biggest commitment I find is the purchase of the large canvas. I start with a sketch. From there itʼs time to get out to a location, somewhere with a lot of space, where the painting can be sculpted and perfected.
When people look at my work, I want them to spend time with it and be drawn in. Individual paintings, to me, are more layered and have more depth than a photograph will allow.
