David Raine

For twenty-five years, David Raine has had a studio in Cornwall, UK. The sea strongly influences his work. He has owned and sailed ocean-going square-rigged ships, which have inspired his ‘Boats’ series of paintings. Whimsical is the single word that fits much of his work. His traditional boats drift along with stylised clouds in the background as if they belong in a daydream. David started out writing poems. Perhaps you could now say that he paints them. He works mostly on commissions, and his work adorns beautiful casas and villas in France, Italy, and Portugal. He also works in bronze and cast stainless steel.

Sailed yachts, owned square-riggers, wrote poetry and children's stories, became a war correspondent, a movie film art director, and painted paintings.
