Andrea Letona

Andrea Letona, a visual artist from Guatemala, completed her coursework for a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts with a specialization in painting at the Escuela Superior de Arte of the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala. She received an honorable mention in the 2023 Galería Abierta at the Municipal Cultural Center AAI in the historic center of Guatemala City, and as a member of the Xperimenta project, she earned an honorable mention in the 2020 Engage Art Contest for a short film in North Carolina, United States. Her first solo exhibition, "Introverted Intuition," took place in 2022 at the Centro Gerencial Las Margaritas in Guatemala City. She has exhibited her work in Central and South America.

Her work focuses on intimacy as a process of self-discovery and family connection. Her experimental approach combines mixed media with painting, new fabrics or fabric scraps, and sewing, offering a new connotation to materials from her childhood, connecting memories to the elements of the works. She explores spiritual appreciation, dialogue about life, and the human experience through personal connections.

Completion of coursework for a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts with a Specialization in Painting from the Escuela Superior de Arte (ESA) at the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala (USAC).
