Hypersonic [Art & Design] is a multidisciplinary studio based in Brooklyn, New York, founded by Bill Washabaugh in 2010. We specialize in creating dynamic artworks and exhibition designs that bring together art, science, and technology in inventive and captivating ways. Our work spans kinetic sculptures, animatronics, interactive installations, and static artworks, handcrafted to provoke curiosity and inspire wonder.

At the heart of Hypersonic’s practice is a deep and unwavering fascination with uncovering and interpreting the rhythmic patterns found in nature. Our work draws on the compelling logic of natural phenomena—like the synchronized flashing of fireflies or the murmuration of starlings—to design experiences that resonate deeply and give the mind a moment of calm.

In addition to creating our own original artworks, Hypersonic collaborates with renowned artists such as Jenny Holzer and Kara Walker, with experience design studios such as SOSO Limited and Local Projects, and with institutions including SFMOMA, the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, and the Museum of Science in Boston.
